Why LoL?
“Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and when the grass of the meadows is wet with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath its shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning.”
At Love of Learning, we educate the whole child. Not only do we provide an excellent academic education, but we also cultivate in our students an intrinsically driven joy in learning that will last throughout their lives. Exploration, independently and in company, physically and intellectually, is encouraged at every age level. And the work of our children is supported by an intentional sense of community that permeates everything we do. Love of Learning-where we love to learn, and learn to love.
We have been an AMS (American Montessori Society) Member school for 18 years. For those looking to better understand the basics of Montessori, we encourage you to check out the AMS website. And for a deeper dive, here are further reading suggestions.
“The child is not an empty being who owes whatever he knows to us who have filled him up with it. No, the child is the builder of man. There is no man existing who has not been formed by the child he once was.”
“If education is always to be conceived along the same antiquated lines of a mere transmission of knowledge, there is little to be hoped from it in the bettering of man’s future. For what is the use of transmitting knowledge if the individual’s total development lags behind?”

“We love this school! This is the education my husband and I wish we had when we were growing up. The children don’t sit in desks all day doing dittos. They’re outdoors often, they learn practical life skills, the older children help the younger children, and they really gain a sense of community.”
“This it is a place where your children are allowed to grow and learn in accordance with the natural rights of children.”
“I love it. My kids love it. We are thankful for this school every single day. The kids play outside everyday! Rain or shine! This is a place where children get to be children. Their childhood is preserved in this nestled, little pocket of woods on the water. The Montessori education just makes sense. Each child is given the opportunity to excel at their own pace and truly find their own interests. The classrooms are similar to a bee hive where everyone is working peacefully among each other. The director, Mr T, is so passionate about Montessori education and it comes across through his interaction with the students, parents and community at LOL. My children are HAPPY at LOL. My children LOVE going to school. What more could a parent ask for?”
“This place is a little bit of magic. They teach respect, compassion and work. They teach the whole person and help us bring up good people and citizens.”
“The school feels like a genuine learning environment, not an institution.”
“This school has made a big difference for our family. Providing this kind of age-appropriate training will set up your child for the long-term.”
“Our girls flourished and grew at the fertile grounds of Love of Learning. The school provided an excellent environment full of love, knowledge and acceptance, where they learned how to carry themselves with confidence, grace, and humility. This was truly an invaluable experience that we as a family will always cherish and appreciate.”
